The figures confirm that the franchise business in our country is profitable for many entrepreneurs who have decided to take this route
There are different ways to strike out on your own in business, but opening a franchise is clearly still one of the most popular methods in Spain in recent years. There are more and more entrepreneurs who opt to open a profitable franchise as a form of self-employment or an investment.
The results confirm that now is a good time for franchises in Spain
In Spain, in 2018, 68,426 franchises were opened, 13.7% more than in 2017 and the same number as prior to the 2008 financial crisis. The other good news is that 2018 saw record turnover – even higher than the figures from before the crisis – of 21.974 million euros, 11.3% higher than in 2017 and the largest increase in the past 10 years according to a study by the consultancy Tormo Franquicias.
These unprecedented figures in the franchise business in our country also translate into growth in investment (7.1% higher than the previous year) and the creation of more than 20,000 new jobs throughout 2018, a 5.3% increase, with forecasts of reaching 410,000 jobs in 2019 throughout all franchises.
If we focus on gym franchises, the figures provided by the Spanish Franchise Association confirm that gym franchises are one of the businesses experiencing the steepest growth today. The turnover in 2018 increased 31% over the previous year, with the total figure exceeding 107 million euros in all gym franchises. Likewise, the number of franchise gyms also increased from 343 in 2017 to 466 in 2018 (a 35% increase).
Success factors: Why trust franchises as a business model?
Beyond the positive growth figures in the sector in recent years, a prime factor to bear in mind when opening a profitable franchise is having the backing of a reliable brand which can offer a tried-and-true model with experience, which gives the franchisee security.
The franchise model is successful in our country because of the advantages it offers and the business opportunities available. In addition to having been proven as a successful model in the market and entailing lower risk, the franchisee can save countless costs associated with marketing their company and training both themselves and their employees, while also relying on a familiar brand to attract more clients.
Franquicias DiR, which has different models of sports franchises like Gimnasios BDIR, YogaOne yoga studios and Jambox boxing studios, offers the chance to join a leading brand with over 40 years of experience in the sector, with 22 centres of its own and an in-house academy to train fitness experts.
Franquicias DiR, which has reached 23 franchise centres in just 3 years, offers ongoing training for franchisers, constantly invests in advertising, has different franchise models according to the initial capital to be invested, and can even help you search for partnerships to secure the financing for your project.
